If you have not read my latest Townhall article on abortion (see it here), please do. I received the following email from a reader regarding it (his first word refers to the title of the article, “Constitutionally, Trump is Right About Abortion”). I have omitted his name and contact information in case Biden’s FBI reads this.
Here is his email:
“Really?
But he’s Biblically absolutely wrong!
Is the life of a baby Created in the image of a Holy God, the God of Israel, less worthy of life because he or she was brought into this life by rape or incest???
Woe to those who replace evil with evil.
Man does not have authority to take a life without the judgment of Almighty God falling upon him.
Thank you

Romans 1:16”
Here is my response:
“*****, I agree with you 100% about the morality of abortion. That's why I made it plain in my article that I only discussed the issue from a Constitutional, not a moral, perspective. Even then, the Constitution does not give the federal government the authority to prosecute murder; that, as well as laws against theft, rape, extortion, etc. are reserved to the states and the people. If the states want to give the feds the right to handle abortion--that is what the amendment process is all about. The states can give the federal government more power, as they did with the abolition of slavery (13th Amendment). But the Constitution does not give the federal government the right to legislate on moral issues, and I don't want the feds to have that power. Look what they did with "same-sex marriage." What do you think the Democrats would do with transgenderism and child mutilation? Graham et al are only talking about a 15 week federal abortion ban. That's not good enough. Right now, in current America, I believe the best we are going to get--and it is far from perfect--is state regulation of abortion. At least some states will protect the baby. Do you trust the feds to do it? They won't and their law would be the law for everybody. It would not only be horribly immoral--it would also be unconstitutional.
Bottom line is, as John Adams said, "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." We don't have that kind of people in America any more, and that is 100% the country's greatest problem.
Thank you for writing and God bless you and yours.

Let me make my position perfectly clear. I believe that abortion is murder, though I believe in protecting the life of the mother. I wish abortion would end RIGHT NOW, no more abortions, period, not one, totally and for all time ended. I think it is the most selfish act a woman can perform; she wants her sexual pleasure without having to worry about the consequences. That, to me, is repulsive. Regarding rape and incest, castrate any man who is a PROVEN rapist, and throw him in jail for the rest of his life on bread and water. I do believe that the child should be allowed to live, however, but we should help the mother as much as possible. All the financial assets of the monster who impregnated her should be given to her. If he doesn’t have any, then churches, private organizations, and charities can help her, and, if need be as a final resort, I would support state and local governments providing financial (and any other kind of) support for her. But that thing in the womb is a human being, a child with a right to live, and should be protected, unless it threatens the life of its mother.
That is my position on abortion.
But it ain’t gonna happen. We all know that, not in the current godless America run by atheistic Marxists, Darwinists, and Democrats.
There is the ideal, and there is the reality. The ideal is, no more abortions, ever. But that isn’t the reality, not right now. It took 76 years after our Constitution was ratified to end slavery in America. These things usually don’t happen overnight. And that was when America was considered a “Christian” nation. The United States isn’t anything near a “Christian” nation any more, despite still having millions of believers. Christianity just isn’t the “zeitgeist” of the nation at present. We aren’t going to end abortion soon, and that breaks my heart.
So, we take whatever steps we can take. Don’t give the power over abortion to the federal government. The Democrats would never accept a 15-week ban, but, as I said in my response, that’s not good enough anyway. A federal policy would be a policy forced on all 50 states. Some of the states, obviously—those run by godless Democrats—will have very loose abortion laws. But some states will, and do now, protect the life of the baby much more tightly than 15 weeks. It’s not the ideal, but I think it’s the best we are going to get right now.
Abortion is a sad, sad part of American history. No doubt, when God finally gets fed up with the United States and comes in judgment upon the country, abortion will be a major reason why. Let’s take what we can get now, and protect as many unborn babies as possible. I hate writing those words, but I think it’s current reality.
