Noah Webster and Posting the Ten Commandments
But we listened to John Dewey instead and we have murder and rape in our streets
Noah Webster: “The Bible is the chief moral cause for all that is good and the best corrector of all that is evil in human society; the best book for regulating the temporal concerns of men.”
Noah Webster: “Education is useless without the Bible. The Bible is America’s basic textbook in all fields. God’s Word, contained in the Bible, has furnished all necessary rules to direct our conduct.”
I wonder what Noah Webster would say about posting the Ten Commandments on the walls of America’s classrooms.
But then, tragically, Webster isn’t the guiding light in American education today. John Dewey is. And here is John Dewey: “There is no God and there is no soul. Hence, there are no needs for the props of traditional religion.”
Methinks America has listened to Dewey and not Webster, and, for the life of me, I can’t see that we have a better society for it.
