Bible Meditation: Psalm 119:15
Psalm 119:15-“I will meditate on Your precepts, And contemplate Your ways.”
We have a perfect example of Hebrew poetry—parallelism—in this verse as David states basically the same thought twice: meditating on God’s precepts and contemplating His ways. I’ve entitled this entire series on Psalm 119 “Bible Meditation.” Reading the Bible is very important, of course, in order to get familiar with its text. But reading alone is insufficient. The mind of God is deep, actually unfathomable to humans. But He has made enough of it understandable to us to provide us guidance in this life, and direction on our journey to the next life. But He does expect a little effort on our part.
How badly do we want to get to heaven? Badly enough to make the sacrifices and efforts necessary to get there? Not many people want to pay the price that is required for eternal life. The Word of God is a magnificent treasure. If we truly do mediate on it, contemplate on God’s wondrous ways, we will be blessed. We won’t come close to understanding all of what God is doing in this current age, but we don’t need to. We just need to trust Him, obey Him, and humble ourselves before Him. Meditation and contemplation give us greater understanding and should be a daily consideration in our lives.
