Bible Meditation: Psalm 119:3
Psalm 119:3—“They also do no iniquity; They walk in His ways.”
Everybody sins, at least occasionally. “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us...If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us” (I John 1:8, 10). The Psalmist here (probably David) is not saying that a righteous person never sins. He is only telling us that as long as we “walk in His (God’s) ways,” we won’t sin. Occasionally even the best Christian steps out of bounds. Our enemy, the devil, is very powerful and can deceive us all. But the closer we walk with God, the more we walk “in His ways,” the less we will sin. That should be our goal. And thereby we will indeed be “blessed” (vs. 1-2).
It isn’t surprising that, as more and more people in America cease to eve try to walk in God’s ways, the more perverted, debauched, and wicked the nation has become. That will continue until there is national repentance.
