Bible Meditation: Psalm 119:31
Oh, that our current political leaders would "cling" to God's Word!
Psalm 119:31—“I cling to Your testimonies; O Lord, do not put me to shame!”
The word “cling” here indicates that David was stuck like glue to God’s word. It was so much a part of him that he could not be detached from it. Would to God that all people were so inclined. How much better would our world be!
If we do “cling” to the Lord’s testimonies, then the possibility of being put to “shame” decreases dramatically. But still, we can ask God not to let our efforts on His behalf fail. We can hope that, as we obey God, success in life will be attained. Such doesn’t mean that we will always be free from trials and hardships; far from it. Read the travails of one of the greatest Christians who ever lived in II Corinthians 11:23-28. But “I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread” (Psalm 37:25). Again, not an absolute, but a general truth that almost any Christian can attest to. God looks after His own—especially doing what we need to ensure us an eternal home with Him.
Can you imagine how much better our country would be if Joe Biden were another King David? Well, Biden would never gotten to be where he is, not as a Democrat.
