Error Alone
“It is error alone which needs the support of government. Truth can stand by itself.”—Thomas Jefferson
Have you ever noticed how often government officials lie to their people? Why do they do that? Well, if they told the truth and preached virtuous, civilized, righteous behavior, people wouldn’t need them very much, would they. Lie to the people, get them to believe as much error as possible, create fear, stoke the embers of resentment, hatred, and division, convince the masses that they cannot live without government tyrants—that is the constant pursuit of government tyrants. It’s all a lie.
Just one quick example: climate change. If governments told the truth about climate change—well, the end results are obvious. How much of our money would still be in our pockets, how much more freedom would we have, how much less...power...would government have? Truth is definitely not in the interest of government.
Truth doesn’t need such support. But then, truth is not tyrannical and in constant search for power and control over other human beings.
