Good-bye, Maduro
But the true problem hasn't been solved
The ouster of a man like Nicholas Maduro from power is always a good thing. America seems to be the only country willing to do it. Well, half of America now; the Democrats would never have done it. People like Maduro should never be in power anywhere, and I truly pray and hope that the Venezuelan people will truly find peace, happiness, and prosperity—and freedom—for a change.
But as far as America is concerned, stopping the drug running of countries like Venezuela is only a BandAid for America’s crisis. America faces a deep spiritual and moral crisis, one far greater than any political or economic crisis the country now endures. As long as the Left continues to convince people that there is no true purpose in life—”Fear God and keep His commandments; this is the whole of man”, Ecclesiastes 12:13—then Americans will continue to ignore God and try to find some solace and meaning in drugs, alcohol, licentiousness, sexual perversion, and every other kind of hedonistic pleasure which will not produce the peace of mind that God intends for us to have. America’s drug problem is America’s fault. We could stop the Maduros of the world from sending drugs to the country, immediately, if every American would do what they ought to do—turn back to God in humble repentance and give up sin. But as long as there remain Americans who use the stuff, as long as there remains the huge market that exists, then Maduro, et al, will continue to exist. And the problem will never be solved.
Removing tinpot, Third World dictators that harm Americans and America’s interests is necessary. Removing the evil from our hearts, however, is a far more worthy goal.
