Is There Any Hope Left?
I have been cursed with the knowledge of two disciplines that leads me to answer “no, none, absolutely not” to the question of the title of this essay. I know history and I know the Bible, having college degrees in both disciplines and multiple years’ experience publicly teaching and writing about both. Sometimes “ignernce is bliss,” and that might be the case in this instance. At least I could go blindly into destruction like the vast, vast majority of Americans are doing.
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap” (Galatians 6:7). That principle applies to nations as well as to humans; just look at what happened to ancient Israel, as recorded in the books of Kings and Chronicles—and their subsequent history—and we can discover that a national mocking of God also leads to destruction or captivity. For in 722 B.C., the Northern Kingdom of Ephraim went into captivity; the same happened to Judah, the Southern Kingdom, beginning in c. 605 B.C. Except for a period of about 100 years in the late 2nd century/early 1st century B.C., the Jews were never free again. The Romans destroyed their temple and scattered the Jews to hell and gone in 70 A.D. (What happened in Israel 40 years before that date?) No Israel, no freedom until they created their own country again in 1948. If you can call what they have now “freedom.”
You reap what you sow. God lets us do that because He warned us about it and its only right that such happens. If Germany sows a Hitler, it will reap a world war. If the world listens to the atheistic theories of Darwin and Marx, the world will sow the results of atheistic totalitarianism and ethical subjectivism: hundreds of millions of innocent dead. “Every man does than which is right in his own eyes.” If you spit in God’s face, don’t be surprised if He spits back.
America is finished. When Ohio, a supposedly “red” state, more conservative than most, votes 57% to allow women to murder their babies, then what hope is there? There are some states where enough godly people exist to hold the line—for awhile—but they are few, and getting weaker and older. As most of you know, I write for the conservative website Townhall.com. Townhall gets about 9 million or so “hits” every month, sometimes more, sometimes less. Of those 9 million-plus hits, every month, approximately two-thirds are from people 55 years of age and older. In 30 years, we’ll all be dead. What does that say for the future of America? Do you see any hope for the long-term future of the country? Especially since the Democratic Party is hell-bent on turning America into a Third World country they can control. And they are going to succeed. On their way to hell.
I cannot predict the exact future of the United States; only God knows that. He can do marvelous things and maybe He can do something to save the country. Except He told us that we reap what we sow. He isn’t going to save us from our own stupidity and wickedness unless we turn to Him in mass repentance. There is no evidence that is going to happen.
America may be conquered from without, but, again, only God knows. I can’t predict what will happen. Perhaps we will simply descend to the level of just another third-rate Western power while China, or some other country, rises to world ascendancy. England lost its empire but still exists—as a third-rate nonentity in the world today. Germany, France, Italy—these countries haven’t disappeared from map, but again, have little influence in world affairs now and are teetering on the edge of the same cliff America is about to fall over. America does have 350 million citizens, and probably 30 million more illegals, who will be citizens soon. That isn’t an insubstantial number and can’t be ignored. But some kind of collapse is coming—it will probably be horrible—true freedom will disappear, and America will only be a shell of its former greatness. What shape that shell will take only the future can tell.
I’m going to keep writing as long as the good Lord gives me breath. But I see no hope for America. Not to return to the greatness of world leadership it once had. In a way, I’m glad I’m 69 years old. I won’t be around much longer. Our kids and grandkids are the ones who will suffer the most. They will suffer for what we have done. Well, those in America who ignored God and history. And that is, by far, the majority of the country now.
The wrath of God cannot be escaped. Bible and history both teach us that. But humanity never learns—or believes—either.
