Some Points in Mr. DeSantis’s Favor
The Republican nominee for President next year will almost surely be either Donald Trump or Ron DeSantis. I have endorsed neither yet, but I will say that either would be far superior to anybody the Democrats select.
I have written some articles on Townhall praising many of Mr. Trump’s accomplishments as President, though trying to point out some faults as well. Mr. DeSantis is still a bit of an unknown, but he has recently had three matters which I consider points in his favor.
1. The far-left wing, racist NAACP warned black people to stay out of Florida, saying the state is “hostile” to people of color. No, it isn’t. Since a person is known by his enemies as much as he is known by his friends, this attack by the NAACP on RDS is certainly a solid positive for him. It also shows the Left is afraid of him.
2. Headline from Breitbart: “Tampa Pride Festival Canceled After Florida Cuts Off Access to Children.” This is what the perverts want most of all, of course, the right and ability to recruit children to their disgusting, godless lifestyle. Florida won’t let them have such access. Another point for Mr. DeSantis.
3. From The Daily Caller: “’The Right Thing To Do’: DeSantis Defends Six-Week Abortion Ban After Trump Calling it ‘Too Harsh’” I’ve never been convinced that Mr. Trump cares much about abortion; it seems to me he only disses it because he knows he must in order to secure the Republican base. I hope I’m wrong there and that his opposition to abortion is genuine. But to call Florida’s six-week ban (which I think is too lenient) “too harsh” does not endear me to Mr. Trump at all. Another point for Mr. DeSantis.
I don’t expect perfection from any human, certainly not a politician, and barring some major occurrence, I will support Mr. Trump or Mr. DeSantis—or almost any Republican nominee next year—for the Presidency. Please do not interpret this article as an endorsement of Mr. DeSantis; he hasn’t even announced his intention to run for President yet. I just mention these three matters as worthy of note, and good things in his favor. When he screws up, I’ll point that out, too. There are still several months before the first Republican primary. Let’s see how things develop. May the best man win.
