The Less-Than- 2% Defeated the Republicans!
I don’t pay much attention to polls, they are so often wrong. The people who conduct them are trying to make money, and that is always a suspicious motivation for telling people what they want to hear. So I tend to ignore most polls.
But I confess this recent Reuters/Ipsos poll did make me look twice. When something happens for 78 consecutive weeks, then maybe there is something to it. And apparently, the economy has been the most pressing concern for Americans for the last year and half or so. Notice crime is second. 33% of the American people say the economy and crime are the most important issues in the country. What are the Republicans doing about it? Well, they talk a lot (in Congressional “hearings”) but I haven’t seen any action yet. Maybe soon. Yeah.
But another part of this poll caught my eye—3% of the population (rounded down to that figure because 2% of both Republicans and Democrats said this, and 2+2 doesn’t equal 3, but don’t ask a current American public school math student that question)…I digress. 3% said abortion was their cardinal motivating issue. But as we have been told, numerous times, by pundits, mainly on the Left, but also by gutless RINO Republicans, “Abortion is a losing issue for Republicans! They didn’t do as well in 2022 because of Roe v. Wade being overturned! Anti-abortion is destroying the Republican Party!” Well, hmmm…
I suppose the less than 2% of Democrats who think abortion is the top issue (offset by the less than 2% of Republicans who think the same) is destroying Republicans’ chances of winning elections. I tend to doubt this. I highly suspect that the less than 2% Democratic number is coming out of solid blue districts that a Republican would never win anyway, regardless of his/her position on baby murder. But many Republicans (RINOs) have drunk the Kool-Aid and are screaming for a retreat on abortion.
I’m sorry, but abortion is a moral issue, not a political one. We have to stand for what is right, regardless of the political consequences. I will NEVER vote for a pro-abortion candidate. I do believe the life of the mother must be protected, and women who become pregnant due to rape and incest deserve all the help (even financially, if necessary) we can give them. I don’t especially like Florida’s new 6-week heartbeat law; life begins at conception, not when the heart starts beating. But, Florida’s law is a start, a step in the right direction. As much as I hate abortion, it is going to take awhile to turn the country around on the issue, just like it took several decades (and a Civil War) to end slavery. But my point in this essay is that, apparently, according to this recent poll by Reuters, abortion isn’t nearly as important as Leftist liars and Republican wimps make it out to be. It IS more important than education, and that tells you something about the American people.
We have to stand strong for morality (6% in this poll). Right is right and wrong is wrong and, if need be, we will die on the altar of Godly righteousness, fighting sin and wickedness all the way.
