This is Virtually Mind-Boggling
But it's not
It’s nice to know that there are a million members of the Methodist Church who still at least hold on to the Bible’s teaching about homosexuality. What’s mind-boggling is that the leadership of a supposedly “Christian” church would defend something that God so obviously condemns (Leviticus 18:22; 20:13—it’s an “abomination” to God and a capital crime, “their blood shall be upon them”; Romans 1:27; I Corinthians 6:9-10). I’m a Christian. My final standard for judging EVERYTHING is the teachings of the Bible, especially the New Testament, the last will and testament of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Methodist Church is supposed to honor Jesus as their Lord and follow His teachings. But they certainly do not in this instance.
There is the occasional quibble—and that is all it is—that “Jesus never condemned homosexuality, only Paul did!” This is untrue from many perspectives. Not only did Jesus, as part of the Godhead Three write the Old Testament under which homosexuality was a capital crime, He also said, “Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled” (Matthew 5:18). In other words, He endorsed everything the Law of Moses taught. Now, it is important to note that He did change some things in the Law of Moses; He perfected them in His “perfect law of liberty” (James 1:25). But homosexuality is not one of the things He amended. He certainly changed the Law of Moses’s marriage law (Matthew 19:1-9). Because of the “hardness” of men’s hearts, and their “ignorance” (Acts 17:30) in primitive times before any of God’s laws were directly given to man, He “permitted” certain things that “from the beginning” were “not so” (Matthew 19:8). Jesus takes marriage and the relationship between the sexes back to the perfection God intended when He created “male and female” (Matthew 19:4). Homosexuality is an obvious abuse of this. No, Jesus never, in specifc words, condemned homosexuality. Nor did He, in specific words, condemn bestiality, incest, pedophilia, child mutilation and sex slavery, and a host of other obscene repulsive practices the godless are defending today. He said, “This is the way God demands that it be.” And homosexuality is a clear abuse of that.
His apostles (and that includes Paul) were given the Holy Spirit to guide them into “all truth” (John 16:13). Their words are Jesus’s words. Homosexuality is a sin, and anyone who practices it, and does not repent and cease practicing it, “will [not] inherit the kingdom of God” (I Corinthians 6:10).
That is what the Methodist Church (and, I might add, the Catholic pope) should be teaching. They aren’t. They will not inherit God’s eternal kingdom. That’s what Paul said, I’m just repeating him.
It’s pretty obvious why licentious heathen deny the Bible. It’s not quite so obvious why those who claim to be disciples of Jesus do the same.
