Trump Leads Biden by 10 Points!
A recent ABC/Washington Post poll reported that Donald Trump leads Joe Biden by 10 points (52-42) in the presidential race. What does it mean?
Well, first and foremost, in the ultimate sense, it means absolutely nothing. The election isn’t being held this week, it won’t be for another 13+ months, and that is an eternity in politics. So, bottom line, the poll means nothing as far as who America’s next President will be.
Plus, ABC News and the Washington Post can’t be trusted anyway so who knows how accurate this poll actually is?
However, there is some meaning to it. Politicians, because most of them aren’t terribly bright because they only live for the next election, will look at the poll and might be moved by it. Democrats especially since it is their guy who is behind—by 10 points!—to the man they hate more than they hate God. Who knows what evil lurks in the minds of Democrats, but two thoughts about that come to my inferior mind.
One, as some pundits are saying, the Dems will use polls like this to get rid of Biden. The rumors are floating everywhere that the Democratic Party intends to force Biden out (he is so unpopular) and nominate someone else. I recently wrote an article about that and it has merit.
Or secondly, this poll might all be a bunch of hogwash to try to convince Republicans to back a “winner”, i.e., to get behind Trump so that he can win the nomination. Most people—even a lot of Republicans—don’t believe Trump can win a national election, so Democrats want him as the Republican candidate. So, if they can use polls—psychologically—to persuade Republicans to nominate Trump, that gives the Dems a better chance to win next year. That thought has merit, too.
Yet, it does appear that Trump’s best chance to win the Presidency next year (and he is almost surely going to be the Republican nominee) is if Biden is his opponent. Biden has been so horrible as President that many Americans, who probably don’t want either man to be the candidates of the respective parties, will hold their nose and vote for Trump. Those who compare their lives under Trump and under Biden will almost surely vote Trump. But there is more to the election than that, as in, how many votes can Democrats steal. There is a lot that goes into these things.
How this poll will influence either party is not immediately clear and there probably won’t be any immediate action. Biden isn’t going to drop out tomorrow. But seeds are being sown and if this trend of Trump leading Biden (if true) continues, we’ll start seeing some action, especially when the primaries begin.
