Working in China...Don't!
I just had this conversation with a friend of mine in China. It’s typical. This person is talking about the boss of the company. Bosses there often want—sometimes demand—their employees to work overtime, but are they going to pay them extra? “Of course not” was the response, as if I had asked a stupid question. I already knew the answer but I wanted it on record so I could use it here and in other places. Just so my readers will know what kind of disgusting people any Chinese person with authority—government, boss, guard, any “master” over his “slave.” “There are many bosses like this.” I would say most. Or all. I’ve never heard of a Chinese boss paying overtime to his workers. Maybe it happens, but I’ve never heard it. I have heard of a situation where the boss of a company wanted all his employees to work their regular shifts and not get any pay at all. I’ve only heard of one of those, though.
I blacked out my friend’s name because I don’t trust China at all. This conversation was on WeChat, and the government monitors every conversation on that forum—well, they can, but there are literally billions every day so I guess they can’t read them all. But I want my friend protected on here, just in case. Chinese hackers are everywhere.
Anyway, go to China and work for a Chinese boss. I can almost guarantee you they will find a way to cheat and rob you. The only two Chinese bosses I ever worked for both did.
