Yes, TikTok Should Be Banned!
I’m a great believer in free speech, don’t mistake that for one minute. I’m not a “free speech absolutist,” but I’m pretty close to it. I believe in freedom, and that means the freedom of people to say what they want to say, regardless of how stupid, immoral, disgusting, or downright revolting it is. I’m not for forbidding Joe Biden from speaking, regardless of what he says.
But I know China. I know what they are trying to do. I know their main goal is to destroy their number one enemy, the United States. And I know they will do anything possible to do that. That government has no morality at all, except whatever is “right” in its own eyes.
And I’ve seen what they do with TikTok—and make no mistake about it, it is the CCP in control of TikTok. Their anti-American propaganda is enormous, and too many of their people believe it. Well, for that matter, so do ours.
If another nation is trying to destroy you, you don’t give them the “freedom” to do it. My freedom stops where yours starts. China’s freedom stops where America’s starts. We have a government in America, and one of its major purposes is to protect its citizens from invasion. And that doesn’t just mean by foot soldiers, it also means by any means that foreign power uses to try to destroy the citizens of the United States. And the CCP is decidedly using TikTok to try to destroy America. That’s where free speech has to stop.
“But doesn’t the First Amendment give Americans the right to say and listen to anything they want to?” Not absolutely. Joe Biden and Democrats fill Americans with lying, destructive garbage every day of the week. But they ARE American citizens (whether they are true Americans or not can be debated). The CCP is NOT composed of American citizens. They aren’t protected by our First Amendment. If you want to listen to CCP propaganda on TikTok, move to China. An intelligent government (if that isn’t an oxymoron) doesn’t give a foreign enemy access to destroying the country. That is NOT the purpose of the First Amendment, in any shape, form, or fashion. The First Amendment protects Americans, it doesn’t protect our enemies.
Ban TikTok, Congress. They won’t, there are too many China-lovers there. But they should.
